1. Core Application Materials
- Create your LSAC account and register for Credential Assembly Service (CAS)
- Send transcripts from all post-secondary institutions
- Take or register for your LSAT
- Write a personal statement that reflects your values and story
- Request letters of recommendation from professors or supervisors
- Draft optional essays (Diversity Statement, GPA Addendum, etc.)
2. Choose Schools Strategically
Don’t chase prestige, chase the perfect fit. Ask yourself:

- Which programs support my goals (clinics, public interest, etc.)?
- Is the school’s environment supportive, diverse, and inclusive?
3. Build a Smart Timeline
A strong law school application isn’t built overnight. Set key deadlines like:
- Final personal statement by August/September
- Request Letters of Reference in the summer to give your writers time
- Submit all apps ideally a few days to a week or two before the deadline if possible
4. Go Beyond the Basics
- Update your resume and LinkedIn
- Apply for scholarships (click here for more info)
